Casting mold production-The process flow

casting mold production

The production process of die-casting mold is: die-casting blank → die- casting-mold design → design and manufacture of subsequent systems and mechanisms

Blank preparation: After the casting alloy is melted, it enters the mold cavity through the pouring system. In the process of injecting molten metal into the cavity, due to the fluidity and filling effect of the molten metal, cavities and pits of certain shapes are formed in the cavity.

Die mold design: involves pouring system and gate design, cavity surface treatment (degreasing, rust removal, sandblasting), etc.

Design and manufacturing of subsequent systems and mechanisms: including the design and manufacturing of mold guide mechanism, injection system design and manufacturing, ejector mechanism design and processing, side plate and bottom plate design and manufacturing (including inlay process), cooling system design

Sand casting:

Mold making: usually made of wood or other metal materials, the size of the mold is slightly larger than the size of the final product to ensure that the molten metal does not form cavities when solidifying and shrinking

Core making: resin sand is placed in the mold to form the inner surface of the casting

Molding: prepare a mold, involving the support structure of the mold, pull out the mold to separate during the casting process, and melt the metal in the previously placed core, and then close the mold mouth
‌Cleaning‌: Remove sand, polish and excess metal in the casting, weld and remove sand to improve the surface appearance of the casting‌

‌Investment casting (lost wax casting)‌:
‌Making wax mold‌: Use wax to make a wax mold of the part to be cast‌
‌Making mud mold‌: Apply mud on the wax mold, put it in hot water after drying to melt the internal wax mold, take it out and bake it into a ceramic mold‌
‌Pouring‌: Pour molten metal from the pouring port, and the required parts can be made after cooling‌

Different casting methods are suitable for different materials and product requirements. In application, the appropriate casting process should be selected according to the specific situation
